Hallie has a secret. She’s in love. He’s perfect for her; he’s even single. But he’s out of bounds. And her friends aren’t going to help her because what they do know is that Hallie hasn’t got long to live.
Flo has a dilemma. She really likes Zander. But his scary sister won’t be even faintly amused if she thinks Zander and Flo are becoming friends – let alone anything more…
Tasha has a problem. Her new boyfriend is the adventurous type. And she’s afraid one of his adventures will go badly wrong.
THREE AMAZING THINGS ABOUT YOU begins as Hallie goes on a journey. She’s about to get a new heart. But whose heart is it?
It is very rare for us to pick up a fiction book and think of it more as non-fiction. For us to think this way takes one seriously skilled writer, an emotional but perfect plot, and an array of characters that you can relate too. Fortunately for us, Jill Mansell has the skill, the mind, and the empathy to have been able to pull off something so beautiful like Three Amazing Things About You.
From the beginning to the end you are taken in by the lives of Hallie, Flo, and Tash. And as we learn more about their characters and situations, the more you realise just how sometimes we do actually take things for granted. It allows us to feel and see things we probably won’t ever see or feel. It really does give you ground to think. Saying that though, not only is it a clever, witty, and beautiful read, but it provides a bold statement about organ donation, and to me that is a clever way of giving something a huge PR boost. Well done Jill.
I recommend everyone read this book. If not just for the beauty of the story, but for the seed it plants in your head afterwards.
A truly magnificent book.
