⚪️ Blurb: After her husband’s sudden death over ten years ago, Kate Waithman never expected to be lucky enough to find another love of her life. But now she’s planning her second walk down the aisle to a perfectly nice man. So why isn’t she more excited?

At first, Kate blames her lack of sleep on stress. But when she starts seeing Patrick, her late husband, in her dreams, she begins to wonder if she’s really ready to move on. Is Patrick trying to tell her something? Attempting to navigate between dreams and reality, Kate must uncover her husband’s hidden message. Her quest leads her to a sign language class and into the New York City foster system, where she finds rewards greater than she could have imagined.

⚪️ My review: Over breakfast on Saturday morning, I opened book post sent to my by Quercus. The book sent was The Life Intended by Kristin Harmel. I’d actually never heard of this author before and I wasn’t expecting the post so like I do with all books I get I opened it up to take a read of the first chapter to see if it would be something I would like. To my surprise it was only when I took a sip of my cup of tea I realised that not only was it disgusting freezing cold tea, but I was actually half way through the book and it was two hours later. That does not happen to me often let me tell you.

Very impressed I obviously carried on being submerged into the sad life of widowed and newly engaged Kate Westhoven. As her story was told from the beginning with her life with man of her dreams (and man of mine) Patrick, to life now with her bit of a twat fiancé Dan. Bizarre and very life like dreams about how life should be with Patrick and dream daughter Hannah start to interfere with her real life, Kate starts freaking out about everything. They’re telling her something she knows it, but she just doesn’t know what. She knows that Hannah is hard of hearing so the first thing she knows she has to do in real life is learn to sign. It’s here when life turns on its axis just that little bit more.

The plot is thick, full of twists, and hidden gems. It’s deep and emotional with characters that bring you joy and warmth. It’s an excellent read and one in which I’m really happy to have been sent out. I know I would not have ever picked this up to buy or even know about it. I’m so pleased I do. It’s a book 2015 holidays need. A book that cups of tea and glasses of wine are waiting for. A book that you really need to try.
